Alexandria University

Courses

Ø  Typically, Both Virginia Tech, VT, and Alexandria University, AU, classes are offered every semester.

Ø  Both VT and AU classes are offered following the Virginia Tech academic schedule.  Classes are closed for both VT and AU holidays.  Accordingly, missed classes are made up with special arrrangements with the course instructor.

Ø  Students can take up to 15 credit hours of transferable AU course credits towrds the VT PhD degree.

Ø  AU classes are taught by AU instructors in class (face to face).

Ø  VT classes offered in Egypt are taught as they are taught at VT in the US with the same textbooks and same course syllabi. Classes would be taught using either:

§  Traditional instruction (Professor in class) by either a traveling VT faculty or a resident VTAdjunct faculty selected from reputable Egyptian institutions, or

§  Distance Videoconference live instruction (would be synchronized with class time at VT in the USA, 7 hours time difference) with a VT adjunct faculty acting as a Distance Learning Instructor, DLI, would be available in class to facilitate course instruction and student interface with the course’s videoconference instructor

Ø  Courses offered vary from one semester to another and from year to year depending on students' need.  A sample course offering is shown below for Spring 09.
